We believe<\/em><\/strong> that all humans should have equal rights and dignity, regardless of social status, race, caste, religion, political affiliation, or labour location and status<\/em>. Labour Rights are Human Rights<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Asian Human Rights and Culture Development Forum (\u201cAsian Forum\u201d) is an independent Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in 2005 by a group of returnee migrant workers with decades of experience in foreign employment. Asian Forum aims to serve migrant workers and their families [Q: other populations as well directly or indirectly?], especially those who have been underprivileged and marginalized, by helping them to achieve a dignified and prosperous life.<\/p>\n

Our vision<\/em><\/strong> is an equitable society where Nepali migrant workers and their families can freely choose their vocational path, and pursue it with dignity and their rights upheld<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

To make our vision a reality, our approach is two-pronged: to provide direct support to individuals and families who are made vulnerable through their experience in labour migration; and to engage and challenge the systems that perpetuate the inequitable treatment of migrants.<\/p>\n

Our mission<\/em><\/strong> is to support and empower Nepali migrant workers and their families throughout the entire foreign employment cycle<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Specifically, this means that we have developed programs that aim to uphold the rights of migrant workers at each stage of the foreign employment cycle: pre-departure, employment in-country, and reintegration. Here are our goals<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Before the journey<\/em>, we connect<\/u> migrant workers with proper information and trustworthy networks in order that they will be well-informed about their rights, and the risks of foreign employment.<\/p>\n

During their employment<\/em>, we advocate<\/u> for migrants by [studying and] amplifying their voices that they may access justice, and inform initiatives to change policy.<\/p>\n

Upon return<\/em>, we build capacity<\/u> of migrants to successfully reintegrate through participating in sustainable local development, by equipping them with skills training and networks to partner with.<\/p>\n

All the while<\/em>, we facilitate<\/u> disadvantaged migrant worker families\u2019 access to education, health care, and justice.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We know that migrant workers have played a central role in building the world in which we now live. They deserve to continue doing so with equitable policies that uphold their safety and dignity\u2014it will be for the benefit of them, as well as their families, communities, country, and world.<\/p>\n
